When the tide's out I can smell the sea. And I can often hear ships sounding their horns as they pass. I'm three "blocks" away from the ocean and can walk there in less than ten minutes.
From time to time you also hear the call of a sea lion or two, at night mostly.
That said I can also see the mountains through the patio doors in my kitchen.

It's probably the North sea that you are near and the sea lions are just seals,do you live in Blackpool? It could be mistaken for the Pacific Northwest after a long night in the pub I suppose,on other occasions do you sometimes think that you are in Paris because you can see the Eiffel Tower in the distance piglet?
