    Anyway, smurf **** aside...

Without wishing to invest in plastic sheets, the squad seems to be looking a bit thin in forward areas, central defence and at goalkeeper.

We've brought in Abrahams and Clough, but we still lack a centre-forward.

Also, our back up keepers are 17 years old. It's great they're so close to the first team, but with an injury to Norman we may end up having to thrust a young keeper in pegs for 15/20 games, which is hardly ideal.

I've no doubt we have the players to field a competitive XI (with everyone fit), but our lack of depth and experience is a bit concerning.

Nevermind that old boring twaddle piglet, tell me some more about the smurf incident...
What was the owners daughter doing there after hours anyway?

Was she there to visit the smurf in question or was it all accidental?

Why was he dressed as a smurf in the first place?

How did he officially get the sack?

There's so many unanswered questions to this story

The owner's daughter was managing the office / admin side of the club at the time. She had genuine, professional, reasons to be there. I'd suspect she wasn't complicit, otherwise why the sacking?

As to why he was dressed as a smurf, you'll have to ask him. Different strokes and all that. It was obviously something he liked to do, whatever floats your boat, eh?

I'll dig out the official line for you.

The official statement was "The club have lost confidence in *insert Smurf name here* as manager, and are (sic) terminating his contract forthwith"

This was after one game of the season (a 1-1 away draw) and just missing out on the League One playoffs the season before.

Off the record, I was told by certain senior club officials, they were looking for a manager who this time would be "the complete package". An additional club statement talked, rather bizarrely, about skeletons in closets.

The protagonist has never commented on the dismissal, but hasn't been appointed manager in the UK since....

Cheers piglet, quite a fascinating story and his dismissal so early on in the season does suggest that there maybe something to it,it's a mad story though 😂

    Indeed.

Did you have rush/fly keeper in your day?

    And how about "Bonehead"?

Rush keeper aye but haven't heard of bonehead. We had a game we called "Wukkitn" which used one goal. Every bye you changed attack and defence.

I can't see Alessandra getting many starts; nor Toure.

Bonehead is "headers and volleys", effectively.

Alessandra's probably valuable for his experience, and Beech loves him. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts a bit.

Toure's one who never really kicked on from a promising start to the season last term. There's definitely a player in there, hopefully he'll feel more settled this term.
