Barnsley move ahead of Nottingham Forest in transfer pursuit of 26-year-old
    By George Harbey 14 June 2021, 11:10
Emiliano Marcondes has entered talks with Barnsley following his exit from Brentford, according to Pete O’Rourke.

Marcondes is on the lookout for a new club after leaving Brentford upon the expiry of his contract, after failing to sign a new deal.

The 26-year-old made 40 appearances for the Bees this season, scoring three goals and chipping with three assists.

The attacking midfielder also produced a standout display in the Championship play-off final, scoring in the Bees’ 2-0 win over Swansea at Wembley.

    Small transfer update.

Seen links to Flynn Downes, Emiliano Marcondes and Stipe Perica. I'm told none of those are imminent targets, although Perica has been on radar before.
No secret they are trying to bring in a striker, ideally before pre-season. Progress but no done deal.

Barnsley are likely to move on several of their fringe players in the next week or two, either on loan or permanently. Patrick Schmidt, Marcel Ritzmaier, Elliot Simoes and Luke Thomas are some who could leave - with some possibly moving to other clubs owned by Barnsley’s owners

Reds striker to join Esbjerg fB on loan for the duration of the 21/22 campaign.

Austrian forward Patrick Schmidt has today joined Danish First Division outfit Esbjerg fB.

The 22-year-old signed for the Reds back in August of 2019 ahead of the return to the Sky Bet Championship but found opportunities limited under three separate coaches, most often restricted to appearances as a substitute.

Why? The Head coach may recommend what he needs but it doesn't mean he's going to get it or any specific players he may reccomend. The signings are made by the owners and the spreadsheet, it has been since Patrick Cryne adopted the moneyball idea 6 years ago. The head coaches job is exactly that- to coach them and get results.
