    I am very sad about Nudger. I starting going to TM in April 1963, so he was in the team. Angus and Elder were the best fullback partnership we have ever had. Angus was pure class.

    My dearly departed grandfather was a mad Rovers fan, but occasionally he would come on't Turf and said John Angus and Keith Newton were the best full backs he had ever seen.

    No disrespect meant whatsoever, but I thought Jimmy Armfield and Keith Newton would walk into my best ever eleven.

    I'd agree with the above with just one qualification, not many did get the better of him, but if a winger did get past him once, it would be a very good winger that could do it a second time, John would make sure of that, and he wouldn't be too fussed about how he did it.

    Remember well the game against Southampton, when their winger Terry Payne clashed with John.
