    O/T Passport delays......

....there isn’t one. Not surprising seeing how we’ve been in lockdown from going abroad for so long.

Wife sent off her Mother’s application for a new digital passport in readiness and hopefully for next years travel.
Assistant in the store who took the digital photo said to expect anything up to a 10 week delay.

Posted it Monday of this week and she got it back yesterday, yes only 4 days in total from post to return!

The application on line is of minimal fuss and so easy to complete. You are supplied with a unique reference number you submit online and this is automatically used at the passport office to pick up your photo from the retailer who took the photo.

One last money grabbing exercise though in that they ask for £5 to return your old expired passport. I would have said you keep it because it’s expired, why would you want it back?

If you think a £5 extra fee is bad you should see what they charge for us 'poor' ex-pats for renewing our passports

I used the machine at Boots, there’s a code on the photos which you use on the online form and it inserts the digital photo. Very slick!
Also helped sister-in-law renew hers about 3 weeks ago all done within 5 days but no mention of an extra £5 to return old passport.

Ain't modern technology frightening but at the same time interesting and progressive.
