If Johnson totally worked us out and our weaknesses were so obvious to work out why wasn't it a one sided game? What did IB get right to counter this. Cos to be the game was very even, there were periods when they looked dangerous and other times when we were clearly on top and they struggled.

The game and to extra time for a reason cos there wasn't much between the sides, I thought we just shaded it but had the more nervy defence.

If we were destined not to go up, this was the next best scenario. We made the play offs (an achievement of sorts), we won the home QF (as you'd expect us to do) then lost to a better side over the course of the season (10 points difference) but took them to Extra Time and only lost by stupidly giving the ball away in the build up for the 3rd and then the ref handed them the 4th.

It just doesn't feel as bad today as it did last August when we lost to Harrogate. Psychologically, this should be less damaging than if we'd lost the final for the 2nd season in a row. We will get over this quicker.

To go up as champions next season is too big an ask, but to improve by a couple of places to make the play offs a bit more winnable shouldn't be beyond our grasp. The unfairness of the lack of promotion places compared to all other leagues is our biggest problem but there is nothing we can do about that.

Why is it too big of an ask? If the mighty Sutton and Barrow managed it.......

So obvious & easy to workout?

We were more in control of the two teams, I'm not saying we battered Torquay but I think if the neutral watched that they would have guessed we were the team that finished 2nd, especially since they had the backing of the fans.

All the goals were simple defensive mistakes ( plus a shocker from the ref) that would have happened with any manager & have happened all season.

If we play the all seaon playing the football we have recently not many teams will be above us next season.

Somebody manages it every season, somebody has to finish in 1st place. Fans of all other clubs wouldn't be surprised if it was us, because we are big club, if not the biggest at this level, but we know what we;ve been through of late, that it took something of the magnitude and craziness of Munto to deliver our only success this century. I just can't feel confident that we're ever going to get out of this league automatically before the number of promotion spots are increased, if they ever are. Promotion is most likely to be achieved via the play offs and we're more likely to do that at this level by securing a home SF and with a team that tries to win rather than tries not to lose.

Just seen the post match interview with Burch. He wants defenders who can play out, but can also defend set pieces. In the National League, that’s a big ask.

The players currently aren’t good enough to play the way that the head coach and presumably the owners want them to.

FWIW I think the extra time would have cooked the team today and been a big disadvantage in the final......be interested to see how Torquay go, particularly if the other game only goes the 90. It will also be interesting to see whether the team that does go up, struggles initially, or for longer, due to the shorter turn around time that the other clubs have.

Thought there were 3 shockers from the ref, their 1st goal offside, their second from a corner that they handballed, and their 4th from a penelty that never was
How is that any of IB fault, we should have won the game 2-0 in the 90, brings back haunting memories of Nolan being swindled out of the play offs by again 3 mistakes from the ref, penelty at coventry, our second a good goal disallowed, and coventry 3rd offside goal given
    Ardley had no excuses
About time we had an offside goal given in a play off match

Against Coventry we were well and truly robbed but yesterday I don't think so. You can't blame any offical for the offside decision with the first, it was so marginal it would be hard for any linemans to get correct.
