    Christian Eriksen

Very sad to see a fit player dropping during a game; latest news sounds positive though he is in hospital and responding.

Couple of points - BBC shocking for zooming in on a person in distress being given CPR.

AND my pet hate - all those player who feign it should think twice, fortunately the ref and players nearby realised something was wrong quickly and medics got in there - slightly different circs and the ref could have been forgiven for thinking it was just more theatrical feigning and ignored him.

Just tuned in to watch Russia Belgium and they were talking about it. Was it a heart attack? In any sport it is sad to see things like this happen eg In horse racing I have seen live jockeys falling off and dying. Not the best thing to see but it's part of life. It's weird like you say fit individuals things like this happening just goes to show can happen to anyone. Hope this dude is ok.

sounds like his heart stopped, they gave him CPR and apparently used a defibrillator - he is responding in hospital and the they are currently carrying on the game - credit to both sides.

They used a defibrillator? I didn't hear that. If so, then most likely given his age and fitness, and how quickly it happened, he had an arrhythmia of some sort.

    Wish him well.

I didn’t see the game live, but it seemed extremely serious for all concerned.

Probably shouldn’t have finished the game so soon after?

Saw the game. It was scary. Never seen an incident like this in real time. Only in TV shows. Apparently Eriksen spoke to the team and asked them to finish it. Manager said the boys just wanted to get it over with. Boys didn't want to spend a sleepless night and play next day. I can understand that. On the medical front, he had a pulse, when doctor got there but then he lost the pulse, cardiac arrest. Scary.

It was indeed a scary moment and one that you do not expect to happen to fit professional althetes.

For the only contest that really mattered yesterday, the absolute best result was achieved.

    Well done to all involved.

Just makes you think about the fragility of life that someone so fit, so healthy and in the peak of his life could nearly lose his life.

Glad he is ok and that the medical team did such a good job. Kept off posting on social media as it always sickens me people using things like this to make themselves look better.

Amen on the fragility comment. Recently went on a motorcycle funeral cortege ride for a paramedic (biker himself), 33 years old, suffered an aneurism, dead before he hit the floor. You never know when it's time.
