I enclose a petition I received from the Ndxt Door Fairmuir forum advising that Fairmuir Park is under threat. https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitio...5-9e20f2d0bd3b
Dundee City Council plan to carry out an Asset Transfer to the Dundee United Community Trust.
Another poster has stated that Dundee United Football Club intend to build a sports centre on the site.
There is no need for another sports centre in Dundee as there is already a new sports centre at Caird Park. We need green open spaces in Dundee for people to take exercise free of charge surrounded by trees which help to stop climate change by absorbing carbon emissions.
Over the years tens of thousands of people have played football on Fairmuir Park and if the Dundee City Councillors a number of whom are Dabs get their way this opportunity will be gone for ever.
If Dundee City Councillors want to hand over a piece of their land to the Dundee United Community Trust there is plenty of ground in Camperdown Park for a new sports centre to be constructed.
David Dorward who is a retired Chief Executive of Dundee City Council is also a director of Dundee United FC.
Please sign this petition.
I'd knock Doon a library and build it on that 😁
Signed
Belatedly the Courier has reported about the Dundee United Community Trust acquiring Fairmuir Park in an Asset Transfer from Dundee City Council.
The Chairman of the Dundee United Community Trust is David Dorward who is a former Chief Executive of Dundee City Council! https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/news...sports-centre/
They should use the Slessor Gardens plus all the other empty sites at the Waterfront Development for their new sports stadium and all weather football pitch.
Just going to state my opinion on this.
If the DAB Community Trust want to buy it and manage it that's up to them, less load on my Council Tax. I doubt they'll ever be allowed to completely remove the green area in favour of a sports complex for United but if it comes off best of luck to them.
Can't remember Islay being so up in arms about the proposed development by Dundee FC at Camperdown Park............... oh, wait a minute.................
