Thread: Sack Gareth Southgate

  1. #11
Mason Mount - overrated? If he wasn't playing for the big boys would he be starting for England?

Foden - brilliant player, bright, busy - can't have that can we eh, let's take him off.

    2 defensive midfielders, strewth.

    Freer - cracking post mate!

Bong - if Gazza was around now Southgate would have him out of position & passing sideways/backwards.

Your first point is the key one Westy, how many of our so-called SKY world class players are surrounded at club level by real world class players who make them look better, this is why Jack is so good, because he has been in an average team for the last two prem seasons and STILL looks brilliant, however he plays with. Having said that, most of the forward thinking players in the england squad would look better in an attacking line-up, over to you Gareth (holds head in hands and rocks gently back and forth)

The thing is folks, Southgate is scared of his own shadow. Better to suck up to those in authority, than to express and implement an independent thought.

He had no credentials for this job, apart from failing with the brightest generation of young English talent. Oh, and not to forget relegation with Boro.

A yes man, in the right place, at the right time, after Sam had dined with the Sheiks. We’ll never get anywhere with the F.A. and the Sky 6 running the national team.

Southgate post match interview " Can’t lie when Reece James passed it to Mings and then Mings passed to Stones who then passed to Rice and Rice quickly moved the ball to Stones who then intelligently passes to James that is the quality I am looking for"

Here is the Acid test, it looks like Mount and Chillwell may be out tomorrow as they are self isolating away from the England camp, they were socialising with Scotlands Gilmore on Friday. Will this mean Grealish can come in for Mount, I bet Southgate still wont start him?

Funny thing is I'm still slightly optimistic of doing ok in the tournament. It will take injurys etc to force his hand though like you said dave.

I actually think that Southgate is trying to protect Grealish from injury. If you noticed most of the team last night were 1-11 in their shirt numbers, so I think this an indicator of who he sees as his first eleven. Given that Grealish cannot train every day, he is trying to use him where he can be most effective. I thought Saka was excellent, and both fullbacks were shocking. Given that he has three decent centre halves i would rather he played them and bring in two wing backs.

Its hard fir a sub to get into the game but dud Rashford actually touch the ball in his 30 minutes? Saka was excellent and Sterling needs to stop being so greedy, head up and pass the ball...
Maguire looked out of sorts and quite awkward at times, Stones was good and im afraid Phillips has gone back to being a crab! Still we are through, some interest in the games tonight and just who is coming to Wembley, me thinks Germany?

You can thank Southgate for the way Phillips is playing for England as his negative tactics stifle his longer passing to the wings.
With Leeds his job is to break up play and find the attacking full backs and wingers while with England he is encouraged to not lose the ball.

This negative sh1te has only just worked so far but nearly back fired against the jocks but make no bones about it as soon as we play one of the better nations we will get found out.
