Didn’t see that one coming !

    This bit is interesting:
Co-chairman, Paul Conway, said: "We are very excited that Markus has signed with Barnsley and will continue the growth of our football club.
    Nothing from Dane Murphy .

Not sure which words to use on this news of Schopp arriving-- indifferent, neutral, underwhelmed, apathetic, same old/ same old.

It used to be exciting wondering what our new manager would be like. It looks like Conway's portfolio of clubs just keep bringing in identikit clones.

Stendel leaves after a year or so, bring in Struber from the Austrian League
Struber leaves after a year or so. bring in Ismael from the Austrian League
Ismael leaves after a year or so, bring in Schopp from the Austrian League
Schopp to leave after a year or so ?-maybe bring in a coach from the Austrian League ?

Is this the future for years to come with Conway's business portfolio of clubs ? What a dull prospect.

Good luck in your time here Schopp, your replacement has probably already been identified in Austria.

My concern here is that this change of manager will mean a slight change of tactics.
The foundation of our success last season was 3 tall lads at the back and 2 tall lads up front.

If there’s a change of style then the squad becomes unbalanced.
It’s very unbalanced as it stands now - but a change of style will make it even more so.
For example - if we go to a back 4 then only 2 centre backs play.
    Presumably Helik and Mads.
Where does that leave Kichen, Sibbick, Sol and Halme ???
We have only one out and out left back in Ben Williams.

As for centre midfield - a list of players that can fill those two spots ……
    Christie
    Wolfe
    Moon
    Halme
    Odour
    Kane
    Palmer
    Stiles
    ……. and maybe Mowatt
That’s 9 players - nearly a full squad of players who’s preferred playing position is centre midfield.

As for strikers …… we currently have just one target man - Morris.
If Ismaël had stayed I reckon we needed 4 - that’s 2 to be on the field at anyone time.
But do we need that many now?

Point being - the squad is unbalanced as it stands now - and the formation that Schopp prefers is likely to undermine the work that recruitment has been doing to fill the positions Ismaël has identified.
