I studied French for 5 years at school Balan, and then couldn't even pass the O level exam. How that could be after five years I have no idea, but it didn't really matter, when we went to live in France I found what bit of O level French I'd retained virtually useless, they speak a different language over there.

I think the French University student they sent over when I was in Haslingden found that we speak a different language to what she was expecting

I crazy fool that I am feel moderately optimistic about the future for the Clarets. Let’s have realism and a plan. Chelsea are apparently preparing a 150 million bid for Haaland. When the next crisis in football comes I want all the filthy rich cat flaps who tried to ditch us for their ESL and who have still not learned any lessons to suffer the biggest downfall since Untergang.

When the Russians started coming home to roost, here ''Let my people go !'' etc. I should have started with a blond woman! Oh well !that's life, a missed chance. But, now we have the Ethiopians.....to be or not to be that is the question?

But the Ethiopians are good at making camp fires ,where as the Russians, sophisticated weaponry, rockets, tanks etc? Back in the old home ,does the Ministry of Defence need anybody specialist with starting Camp fires? :-)

Thankfully, I have a good French accent (the Vaudois murder French). Very true about Swiss German. I speak “hoch Deutsch), which the Swiss Germans understand. My Lancashire accent is not that pronounced now - I left the town in 1971. However, it is a truism, if trite, to say that “ye can teck lad out’ o Burnley, but you can’t teck Burnley out o’t lad.”

Bring back Masseys is what I say. Charringtons is sh*t. Discuss.

Indeed! The Gaffer has said that “funds are available” with the caveat that is has to fit with the financial plan. I hope that does not mean sell Tarkowski for 20 million, Pope and McNeil the same (60 million) then spend 40 million on 4 or 5 lesser players! Either we are a Premier League team or not. The size of the town is irrelevant now. It is the financial backing that makes the difference.

The bubble will surely burst at some point Outwood, but the little blips that come before the mighty crash will be eased with that little bent organisation who run the shambolic PR, they may and have done in a lot of cases let the also rans die and burn, but when it comes to the top 6 they will protect them till the very end
