What additional players do we need?

Assuming that Johnstone and Pereira leave, what else do we need? We seem set at defense and keeper. I would think that we'd need a fullback, another midfielder, another winger and a striker. We have numbers up front (Diangana, Phillips, Snodgrass, Robinson, Grant, Zohore) but I don't fancy either Snodgrass or Zohore in the new system.

CDM position urgently needs properly sorting we need pace and energy, particularly if we are going to successfully press this season, so far I’m not seeing any pace coming into the squad which worries me, press without pace and you are in big big trouble!

Should have gone for Matt Ryan after he left BHA.

A target man as an option like Diehou if his wages a reasonable and another striker on loan like Nketiah from Arsenal or Delap from Man City.

Presuming he will play 3-4-3 / 5 at the back, whatever system you want to call it..

We desperately need another combative central midfielder to play with Mowatt, hopefully Challobah.

And we desperately need a decent focal point up front, I've heard we've been linked with Liam Delap who I'd be happy with.

Those are the first 2positions that we need drastically to sort.

I think we are fine at GK and Central defence now, unless Bartley leaves. I think we are fine for attcking midfielders/ wingers, we have a lot of depth there.

I'm not sure how well our full backs are going to cope. We probably need, at the very least, cover for them

I think snodgrass will be really good for us. Great mentality and engine and experience. As to who else we will need, it depends on who he thinks can do a job. Without watching every training session we’re pretty much in the dark. Personally I’m just waiting and watching and trying to ignore any hype.

Totally agree Boingy. I do like Val’s style and he seems a guy who really wants to achieve. Anyone not meeting his expectation will be on the way.

We do need someone though who is ruthless at putting the ball in the back of the net plus Grant and Diangana need to step up and think they will. Mowatt will be the new Mulumbu hopefully which is needed!

Pereira will be a big miss .... creative, takes people on and chips in with 10 goals a season ..... if we don’t get a decent offer I would be tempted to keep him for another season ....

There is paper talk about Yokoslu coming back .... would be a great addition as defensive CM .... can’t see it happening mind ... probably just b****** paper talk ...

Agree Grant and Diangana need to step up and earn their corn next season ....

I am hoping that Pereira stays. Apparently, the only interest has come from a Middle Eastern country, offering about £5m! Regardless of the derisory amount, why the hell would a player like Pereira want to go to some backwater like that?

I do like Snodgrass, but I don't think he fits the profile of player that Ismael wants in that position. He is 34 in September. All the vibes I'm getting from the outside looking in, is that Val wants young, hungry players who press the ball.

I can see him being moved on, or not getting much game time.

You could be right 123, but I hope he does play because he can be a dangerous asset. Val will know what to do I'm sure.
