However I suggest that rig up some sort of electric fence around your trees similar to electric fencing around greens on golf courses where sheep and cattle are allowed to roam.
Prior to 1973 Machrihanish golf course used to have electric fences around the greens apart from the 1st, 17th and 18th greens as these holes were owned by the Machrihanish golf club.
I am also no expert, but what machrihanish golf club should have done was put signs up,with pictures of sheep and cattle with a red line running diagonally through it.A no sheep or cattle sign if you will.

I put one of these in my loft four years ago and have never seen any sheep or cattle,or any evidence they have ever been there. The 'sign method' also works well for sharks and giraffes, but not for spiders who seem to show a "blatant" disregard for the rules.

Perhaps the sheep and cattle in the Machrihanish area could not read.
However the remaining holes of the golf course were purchased in late 1972 for £38,000 resulting in the sheep and cattle being permanently removed from the golf course prior to the start of the 1973 golf season.

Machrihanish golf course rules do not unfortunately unfortunately apply to farmlands where beavers stay. I'm going to suggest that the next export of beavers from Tayside should be special delivery to Machrihanish golf course!LOL.
