On the playing side of things

It's been a while since we were in such good shape.

Not expecting miracles but I'm reasonably confident we can stay out of trouble.

We have a few local guys, a couple of players in the form of their careers, a manager who looks like he has a few answers, decent goalie and a free scoring centre back.

    What can possibly go wrong.🙂

Team spirit seems high ( winning games does that ) and not the fake "characters in the dressing room" a team that seems to enjoy winning together.

    Ross county a decent test.

Think this season will depend on getting a good start. Bit like our neighbours last season. Got points on the board early. Take one game at a time and just remember how McPake got the team to win without Adam, eventually without Mc Phee and eventually with a proper goalie.

If we can keep up the habit of not conceding goals we're half road, we have a decent keeper and a decent defence and that's a combination we haven't had for years. Midfield is good and we get the ball forward, for me we still lack that annoying tw@t of a forward that lumbers about for twenty minutes doing nothing but then gets his head on the end of a cross and scores or takes the ball in and lets the midfield and other forwards get into shape after being under pressure for five minutes.

We will score but we might need that big guy up top, especially as an out ball at times this season.

Very encouraged by what I saw against Brora, OK it was 'only' Brora but you have to beat what's in front of you and this time last season we struggled against a poorer side than them.

Is Sheridan the missling piece in the jigsaw?

I think that we need an experienced goalkeeper on the bench as back up. Danny Rogers if he is still training at Dens would fit the bill.
Harry Sharp could then go out on loan at a League 1 club to gain more experience.
