Don't know how that post got on here '68. Must have pressed some button or other!

We don’t seem to have any idea what a striker is. We have used players known primarily as wingers or even midfielders as strikers. Even ( so prolific I can’t even remember his name at present) the guy from Huddersfield, no one said he was a striker. So why buy him? A striker plays down the middle and scores goals. He has a knack for it. It’s not hard to work out but WBA seems to be striker blind.

I think this is a result of having spent so badly on number 9’s in recent times mate.

Brown Ideye, Rondon, Zohorre and Austin......all absolute rubbish.

Only Odemwingie and the on loan Lukaku have done a proper job over the last 12 years.

Our recruitment clowns seems to be too fearful of another f u c k up so they prefer to chicken out and buy utility “strikers” like Robinson and Grant who can supposedly “do a job” across the front line.

I’d love to see us take a punt on a highly rated non league brute of a centre forward or from lower leagues or some bloke who was hunting his food barefoot with a spear last week.

There is another Regis or Vardy out there but unless you try these types you just never know.

I know it is boring but in modern football summer recruitment every year is the make or break for all clubs. Get it right and you are in for a good season. Get it wrong and you are potentially in a relegation fight and you are stuck with players that are hard to get rid of unless you take a big financial hit.

Can’t see many queuing up to buy Zahore, Sawyers for example for big money so it makes balancing the books tough once you get it wrong and we have done that a lot over the last 3 or 4 years.

Is this April Fools! Balancing the books - ha ha. Fat Sam would have been most likely on twice what Val is on - large number of players left and hardly any through the door. In addition the parachute payments and the sale of Pereira and Johnstone looming. Is this balancing the books or is it a slope into Lai’s pocket?

Are Fulham balancing the books? West Brom fans would not protest if they were in league 2
    unlike other clubs!

Does balancing the books mean yet again no striker since Gayle left and being stuck with Livermore and Sawyers who were not good enough in the championship before promotion!

PS - Harrogate have an owner who loves the club unlike our absolute W anker!!!

As the saying goes 'The proof of the pudding will be in the eating'. With the imminent sales of Pereira and Johnstone plus the parachute payment we will know where the money has gone after the transfer window has closed. So let's wait and see.

It amazes me how our fans always think that the Chink is pocketing every last dime.

If you think that gate money covers our wage Bill then you’re not that good at maths.

Our 23 home matches would be lucky to bring in £10m in receipts, probably closer to £7m I would guess.

That’s hardly enough to cover the wages of our top 4 earners I would guess.

Do you think the rest of the squad and every other player on the books are playing for nothing?

Then there’s all the staff at a club of our size and running costs of the stadium.

Everyone knows I can’t stand Lai but to suggest the parachute money all goes straight into his pocket and all transfer money as well is just plain silly.

I fully understand that our gate receipts won't cover the costs of running the football club but I also understand that we are probably one of the better off clubs in the division and therefore should be able to compete favourably in the transfer market with any of the others who will have similar outgoing so to us. If we don't, then it begs the question of where is the money going? It will be especially significant if we realise the value in the transfer market of the two players mentioned.
