Oh yes, alf, however, you really need to move north of the Tyne for the real great untouched beaches.

Warkworth-Alnmouth, I've been in the Caribbean, seen nothing better there. Need a wetsuit on to go in the sea mind, but the beaches are to die for.

You need a heated wetsuit! Having said that, when the power station at Blyth was in operation the water in that area used to be quite warm. it even attracted sharks from time to time. My neighbour was the Chief Engineer there for a long time and tells some fascinating stories about the station and its environs.

As an optimist my target this season is to get at least 12 points.

Don't know about that Alfie, the way it's shaping up it could be all done and dusted by Christmas, and we're just left with calculating the parachute payments.

I've been in Southport this weekend because the grandson needed to complete a sailing course, so we stayed over last night. In the pub at lunchtime today, I was talking to a couple of Liverpool shirted footie fans.

They are both certain our "luck will run out" this season and have already planned to back us to get relegated along with Southampton and Norwich.

Me too Alfie, I've done me nuts on them going down the last two seasons, pay back time this year, Championship here we come. Best odds currently 5/2 with Bet365 and 888. Looking at the fixtures we'll likely be a lot shorter come the end of September.

Amazingly the bookies don't even have us in the bottom four, Norwich, Watford, Brentford and Palace all shorter than us.
