Anybody who has guessed more than 26 points has predicted our best ever 10 game start.
1930/31 season is currently the best... won 8 drawn 2 lost 0 scored 28 conceded 7, so that would be 26 points today with 3 pts per win. Nolan's 2018/19 start is the 4th best ten game opening with 25 points and a +12 GD.
Six of our ten best ever starts after 10 games ended with promotion. Six of the ten worst got relegated.
Worst 10 game start was W1 D1 L8 in 1912/13. Worst this century was 6 points when we were in admin 2003/04
Well we got 2 teams in Wrexham and Torquay i who should be in the top 7, then Aldershot who got the double over us last season , so that will be a yardstick to where we are.
As i said previously the opening loss to Dover last season , who only won 2 out of their 15 matches, showed we were poor, and never really top spot contenders, these are the type of teams we must beat this season
It was the 2017/18 season where we got 25 points after 10 games, though even that started with a thumping 3-0 defeat at Coventry.
Worryingly, not only do we have to go back to 2015 to find our last opening-day win, but that 2-0 victory at Teddy Sheringham’s Stevenage is also the last time we scored in the first league game. That’s a pretty woeful stat.
A huge contrast between 2017/18 and 2018/19, I shouldn't be mixing those two dates up, We got just 6 points from the first ten of 2018/19, but scored more goals than the 2003/04 admin era.
1930 is the only time we were unbeaten in the first 10, we got to game 19 before losing that season.
1977 is the only time we didn't win a game in the opening ten. drew 5 lost 5, which saw Fenton replaced by the second coming.
Last time we scored at Meadow Lane on the opening day of the season was when Sven was here and we beat Bradford City 5-0!!!
True but to me this is the first time in years that I think we have started a season where the recruitment is strategic with a game plan. Before it seemed either opportunistic, trophy signings or "all we can afford" (the really bad years).
Ill go with 23... that means no defeats in the 10 games which is severe optimism
