OAPs have paid their taxes throughout the whole of their working life and now have a reduced income hence the reason for free bus travel in Scotland.
The Barnett Formula is paying for this new free travel for under 22’s who better hope that Scotland remains part of the U.K. otherwise this free bus travel will likely end.

You realise it's not really free and we'll all end up paying for it in the end don't you?

I agree that if crusties get it youngsters should get it, however I'd go further and say if crusties and youngsters get it everybody should get it. Where does that end? Free flights, free trains, free holidays to The Algarve?

In a society where people, particularly younger people, now expect everything to be handed to them and are happy to be told by government when they can go out and when they can't I just think it's another step in a very wrong direction.

You can get a free bus to and from the pub but you can only go there at 7.30 and you must be out by 9.30 - don't even think about standing up with your pint either.

The youngsters could use Shanks pony which would be better for their health and reduce traffic on the roads.
I used to walk to my primary school in all weathers and get the bus to Morgan Academy. Nowadays children are driven to school by their parents. I cannot see this changing after the novelty of free travel on the buses has worn off particularly in wet weather.
