To return to the topic.
John Nelms should resign with immediate effect and the Chief Executive post should be advertised to allow the directors to appoint someone who knows what he is doing running a professional football Club.
John Nelms should have submitted a request for 11,500 spectators to be admitted to this Saturday’s game against St Mirren citing unprecedented demand for Dundee supporters to attend this game to Dundee City Council (DCC).
Then it would be up to DCC to agree to this request or give an alternative figure for the number of spectators to be admitted. Hopefully they would have agreed a total which was agreeable to both Dundee Football Club and DCC.
Why can one metre social distancing not be put in place in the Main Stand. Every second row could be empty and Dundee supporters could wear these useless face masks even if it means keeping Greg Colgan Chief Executive of Dundee City Council happy.
We should all be looking forward to seeing our team playing their first game at home n the Premier League not having a barney about the ticketing shambles for this Saturday’s game.
I have just discovered that this fiasco with 23% of season ticket holders not getting into Dens this Saturday could have easily been resolved if the club had read the rules correctly.
Apparently 15 people from 15 different households can sit together with a one metre gap to the next 15 persons group.
However the club have not been asking groups of people to join up to a maximum of 15 to get as many people in as possible on Saturday.
Surely the club should have had blocks of 15 marked off on their seating plans in the Bobby Cox and Bob Shankly Stands before they opened the doors for season ticket holders queuing up to exchange voucher 1 in their season ticket book for a ticket in a block of 15.
As a non season ticket holder I would happily sit beside a stranger at Dens Park this Saturday if I could get to the game and I am sure that there are plenty of other Dundee supporters who would happily do likewise.
On Pravda one poster said that whilst standing in the queue on Wednesday he arranged with several other people to form a group. However they should not have had to use their own initiative. Dundee FC supporters clubs should have been notified as soon as we entered level 0 of the change in the rules allowing 15 strangers to sit together in a group at Dens Park. Supporters clubs could then have organised their own groups of 15 people where possible with smaller supporters clubs season ticket holders arranging to join up where possible.
Hopefully the ticketing fiasco for the St Mirren game is a ‘one off’ with a lot more spectators allowed into Dens Park from Monday 9th August 2021 onwards.
Turns out there was a promise of sorts on a ballot

I think they genuinely wanted to do the right thing but had very little time. Hopefully better organised for next home game with the lessons learned
There’s also an assumption here and on Pravda that the easy solution was getting people to group in 15s.
People like me, who think reasonable measures around Covid are ok, would not consider clumping together with 14 strangers.

As long as politicians think its popular they will continue to do it, climate change will be another excuse to lock everyone up.....because a ****age white lassie says so......yet ****age white lassies were ignored all over the north of England and Glasgow....strange.
