    A case for the academy

I know this was a friendly and I know I moaned about the inexperience against Bradford but the youth did not disappoint last night.
They held their own against a tough Leeds team and showed that we possibly need to look at them rather than elsewhere.
Will they have bad games?of course but I rather we nurture our own, rather than run the risk of bringing in a player past their best on high wages.
Barry Douglas was a case in point.

Garratt has looked decent, as has Buckley.
Some of these lads are going to have to step up this season.
My fear is, we are so thin on the ground. Once injuries and suspensions, a drop off in form all kick in, that's when we will come unstuck.
We have too many still around who just will not contribute. Chapman, Dolan are not good enough and will not do much. Rothwell is not someone you can rely on to make an impact much.
I would keep McBride around the first team, he may well spring into life.
