What a great article. I always rated Alan Hinton as a great player, fast, direct and with a terrific shot. I have always wondered why Wolves let him go, that has answered my question.
So much has changed in the game since those days, and not for the better.
Local players playing for local teams, Norman Deeley came from Wednesbury too and both Black Country clubs had a lot of local players.
Managers who weren't mates with the player's, Gary Megson was a throwback.
Young players who were taught humility by sweeping the terraces and cleaning the first teams boots, and they were teased by their betters unmercifully, something else that wouldn't happen today though it made them appreciate success even more.
Fans going to watch both Albion and Wolves, something that I did myself in the sixties, I was always Albion but my mates were Wolves and I used to go with them and they would come with me.
Great days when football was football, men were men, and money and nancy boys hadn't ruined a great game.
    Those days will never return.

Those of us of an age can empathise with this post and agree with the content. However, with all the nostalgia that we feel there are some aspects of the game that have improved. They are manly concerned with the facilities though and not connected with what happens on the field of play and at administrative level.
