IB update on players for Derby & injuries

Ian Burchnall has provided an update on several players ahead of Sunday’s visit of Derby County.

The head coach is looking forward to seeing his side tested by higher-league opponents for the first time this summer – but who will make the squad?

“Cal Roberts is all good,” said the head coach, who rested the Geordie at Boston on Tuesday night.

“He’s had another really good week of training and will start against Derby.

“After playing 30 minutes at Telford, we’re hoping he can clear an hour this time. We’re looking to progress his minutes.”

“Aaron Nemane’s been in full training all week and he’s looked sharp.

“He’s still got work to do on his fitness having been out for a while, but he looks to be clear of his injury and it’s now about building him up.

“We hope to give him a few minutes against Derby.”

“Lewis Knight is having an MRI scan on the injury he sustained at Boston today, so we’ll know the extent over the weekend.

“It’s disappointing for him and us – he’s been training and playing well and we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed that it’s nothing too bad.”

"Frank Vincent has really increased his training recently and is responding well. You can see how much he’s enjoying being part of the group properly.

“He may be close to featuring against York.”

“Alex Lacey has done two running sessions out on the grass this week but he’s not done any ball work yet.

“We had a couple of little setbacks following his surgery but we feel he’s now progressing in the right way.”

“Tyreace Palmer suffered a nasty injury towards the end of last season and is still a few weeks away from being ready to get back on the grass.

“We’ll get him up to speed and assess him from there, with the possibility of sending him out on loan when he’s ready.”

Good that players who were injured are now getting near to be available for games, good to read that Lacy is starting his running.
