As Ian Drury n The Blockheads said back in the day ... 'Reasons to be Cheerful' !

Based on previous games, today's performance was a lot, lot better. KVV had a stoatin performance, and could be that rough diamond of the season. Watt was impressive, and the Woolery lad has got some Acme jet gas in his boots. Midfield ...
Slattery needs games clearly, Maguire is the 'breaker' and we need someone else (!). Defence still a bit of a gambit but at least big Bevis looked decent. If SOD goes that'll be a ball-breaker, and Carrol; good option on the forward foot, but Jeezo needs to time tackles at the back a whole lot better.

    Very mixed feelings.

Losing a game we shouldn't have lost is always annoying. And all three goals conceded, while poorly defended, were unlucky to a degree - we might have got away with them on other days.

But expectations were so low, scoring two - and missing various other chances - is a huge positive. KVV exploded and Woollery, final ball/shot apart, looked promising, as was Slattery. Lawless still looks hopeless and Watt out left, whatever you think of him in general, is a waste of him/a jersey.

The weaknesses were known in advance but if you think the Finnish guy will improve the defence and there's another couple of bodies - first XI, not Robbie Crawford squad fillers - to come, you can be quietly confident the season ahead.

However, as I always say - losing when you play badly is a much smaller problem than losing when you play well. A point in Perth would calm the nerves going into the Dundee-Livi-Dundee streak which will tell us a lot about how things will go.

Aye - that trio of matches may well be a season-definer even this early on. Must admit though, was fekkin great to feel the passion in the stand today and get back to calling lino's knob5 !!

Marked improvement - on another day, and with the run of the ball, we'll win the same kind of match. Hibs got away with one today.
