Can we play the Faroe Isles next week, we might give them a game!

We could try a few more of the ‘second stringers’ who took over against Pakistan when Covid hit. Didn’t we win that series?
Can’t see Curran and Sibley being retained and Burns must be on his last chance.
I know Root is a great batsman but as a captain? They looked like an over excitable school team once they got Pant out yesterday morning and were just out played by a more professional side from that point on.
There has to be an argument for the recall of Malan / Vince in the middle order, push Hasseb (no point bringing him in just to drop after one poor game) up to open with Burns or Sibley. Trouble is there are no decent openers in the county circuit and no matches available to find a form player due to the interference of the foetid Hundred on the timetable.
Curran has done enough in the past to keep his place, despite the mare at Lords
All good points. Trouble possibly is, both Vince and Malan are fellow customers at the last chance saloon along with Burns, Sibley, Crawley and Hameed. Less sure about Curran...he had four roles to play at Lords and failed badly in three of them (bowled reasonably well in one innings). Much prefer Woakes, and obviously Stokes, if either are ever fit.
Do the likes of Willey and Livingstone really not possess sufficient transferable skills from the ‘bish, bash, bosh’ form to the grown up version?
P.S. Second Ashes Test will be in its second day four months today.

Livingstone, don't know, unproven, may be worth try but possibly another Crawley, Westley, Bracey, Northeast, Lawrence and others who have briefly shone and made a case at "A" level, but not kicked on. Willey gets action from the new ball, but then nothing special for the next 70 overs. Don't think he is quite there at test level, bowls too many 4 balls.
The return of Ali plus Woakes, Stokes and Archer will resolve the bowling / all rounder issues, and allow us to move on from Broad-Anderson post Ashes tour: but the batting I fear is in desperate condition. perhaps its time to convert a few South Africans
