    Blackburn v Swansea

It’s the start of a new season, full of optimism with a new head coach and the much anticipated return of Swanselona football.
Steve Cooper - head coach, Mike Marsh - assistant head-coach, Steve Rands - head of performance analysis, and David Tibet first-team fitness coach have all departed.
Eight players have left, possibly nine. Andre Ayew, Marc Guehi, Freddie Woodman, Conor Hourihane, Kieron Freeman, Declan John, Barrie McKay, George Byers, all departed, Matt Grimes departure pending.
For today’s match Jay Fulton and Joel Latibeaudiere are suspended, new signing Liam Walsh has a hamstring injury, Wayne Routledge and Connor Roberts have long term injuries, and last season’s team captain Matt Grimes is injured/recovering from Covid/departing for Fulham - take your pick.
Which leaves the squad threadbare and an opportunity for fringe players to impress.
The team selection, the formation and the tactics are hard to predict as we go through this transitional phase.
In contrast Blackburn have no such problems with a settled side, no incomings, but a rumour that their leading scorer last season, Adam Armstrong, could be on his way to Crystal Palace.

    Blackburn 2 Swansea 1
Shambolic display from Swansea players, continuously losing possession.
It’s going to be a tough season for Swansea unless they can strengthen the team and get players in who are able to play this system.
How Blackburn only scored two goals is a mystery. Lucky their prolific goal scorer Adam Armstrong was missing or he would have had a field day.

New manager, new ideas. I guess were going to have to be patient.

Hi guys, welcome to a new season! Not the result we wanted but give the manager a chance I reckon.
I suppose yesterday’s defeat was inevitable as the players get used to possession based football. It all seemed a bit chaotic as we were cut open many times in the first half, our defence continually exposed as we kept on losing the ball.
A better second half but we conceded a second goal as Benda fluffed a clearance, was dispossessed and he brought their player down for the penalty. Blackburn had plenty of chances with 21 shots, 10 on target. We had 72% possession with 7 shots, 4 on target. Blackburn hit the post at the end and missed a sitter, they deserved the win.
