I watched Real Madrid v Girona last night, Girona have a 21yo Brazilian right-back Yan Couto on loan from City, dear me, he had a mare, he had a new arse ripped that many times the Spanish New Arse shop must have been running low on supplies, he made Vitinho look like Keith Newton.

In the 88th minute he capped an abject display by giving a penalty away, the pen hit the post and rebounded out, the clock was showing 90 minutes 15 seconds and the ref blew for time. Besides the pen there were the usual delays for injuries, Bellingham alone must have held the game up for 3/4 minutes while down injured, and substitutions, I was expecting anything between 5 and 10 minutes but we got 15 seconds. Why was this, do they not play added time in Spain ?

On my most recent visit to Spain I must have watched a dozen different La Liga games. I must conclude the standard of play is better than the EPL, the referees are generally better and they do not do VAR.

VAR is active but is only used as a last resort and I noticed what you say sinkov, they don't do added time either.

Even the wife said she enjoyed the games more.

We are off to Madrid in early March and I'm hoping to get tickets for the Real Madrid v Celta Vigo match. It's been on my bucket list for ages. Here's hoping.

l've seen reports saying time will be added on in the Spanish League this season and reports of Real Madrid winning at Alaves with a stoppage time goal, but you say they don't add time on and there was certainly none added on in this game. It's a bit of a mystery.

My lasting impression of La Liga is the referees are there to officiate the match and are not trying to be the star of the show.
