    All so predictable,

This what happens when you put the eco-loons in charge. And this is only the start of it.

"Britain forced to fire up coal plant amid record power prices and winter squeeze. Two coal facilities taken off standby as the amount of electricity coming from wind farms falls dramatically

Energy prices have spiked to a record high in Britain after calm weather shut down the country’s wind turbines amid a global shortage of natural gas. Wholesale power costs surged to more than four times their normal level, forcing officials to fire up coal-based plants to handle demand. It is feared the high prices will continue into winter as the weather gets colder, raising fears over household bills and putting a string of energy suppliers at risk of going bust. One senior energy insider said: “It’s causing a lot of concern. Everything is going up.”

Rising wholesale gas costs over the summer have already forced ministers to increase the price cap on energy bills by £139 from October, with suppliers hiking tariffs as a result. Businesses have complained for years that they face higher energy costs than competitors abroad, and there are now warnings that manufacturers might curb output rather than incurring sky-high bills. Rising wholesale prices come at a sensitive time for the Government as it tries to maintain public backing for its plans to slash carbon emissions to net zero. Taxpayers and consumers are already facing further costs to fund technologies such as hydrogen as part of the battle to ditch fossil fuels. Gas-fired power stations still generate more than 30pc of UK electricity. Power costs are closely tied to gas prices, which this evening hit 134.5p per therm in the UK - compared to less than 30p per therm one year ago."

Never mind though, while we're freezing to death in our homes and the county's gone bankrupt, we can console ourselves that we've done our bit to save the planet.

Three of our trees are coming down after this news. We will just crank up the old log burner and f*ck 'em.

What I found odd is that a couple of weeks ago we were on the Cumbrian "Energy Coast" and the turbines were whizzing around.

The government here have just signed a new 15 year contract with Gazprom at a better rate than the last contract agreed with the socialist/liberal coalition government in 1995!!!
This means gas prices here will not be increased for the forceable future. We are already the 3rd cheapest in the EU.Our tap is firmly open Sinkov.

Our government goes out of it's way to irritate Putin and Russia. They think it's clever, it just seems stupid to me.

    Taking a dirrerent angle....

fron the film - The Good Shepherd

Soviet power is a myth. Great show. There are no spare parts. Nothing is working, nothing, it's nothing but painted rust. But you, you need to keep the Russian myth alive to maintain your military industrial complex. Your system depends on Russian being perceived as a mortal threat. It's not a threat. It was never a threat. It will never be a threat. It's a rotted, bloated cow.

Russia is Top Military Threat to U.S. Homeland, Air Force General Says

    https://news.usni.org/2021/08/18/rus...e-general-says

Russia, with its array of hard-to-detect cruise missiles and advanced submarines, poses the primary military threat to the American homeland today, the commander of U.S. Northern Command said Tuesday.
“They’ve developed capabilities that didn’t exist 20 years ago …very low radar cross-section cruise missiles [and] submarines on par with our submarines,” Air Force Gen. Glen VanHerck said.
Cruise missiles “can be launched from multiple platforms, from air-launch capabilities to sea-launch capabilities to submarine-launch capabilities to a container on a commercial vessel. There are multiple ways to do that.”
He added that the advanced cruise missiles in Russia’s arsenal have the range to strike the United States when launched from inside Russian territory.

In the mid 90's I had the great misfortune to visit Moscow twice to sign up a couple of deals.

I have never experienced such a set of joyless people, and Moscow despite the photos of the Kremlin, is a Class "A" $hithole!

    Some fantastic looking women though.
