O/T cost of things from your youth or when you were a youngster.

Dagenham John's post on another thread, circa the early '70s, left me thinking of how you remember things costing when you were first aware of values.

I have a lot of early memories i.e. cost of a loaf of bread just after the war and my Mam buying me a halfpenny (old money) bar of chocolate about the same time.

I'll hoy my halfpennyworth in after a few posts and I'll wager Sherwood Mick can recall a few good ones.

Example of Dagenham John's recollection from 1970s to be seen on Borris's Meal Out.

A night in the Hunt in Stanley when I was 16/17, 5 quid would get me pi55ed on 5 pints of McEwans lager.

You must still have memories outstanding to you where there have been big changes.

    For me.

Beano I remember it costing 50p, getting it and a packet of sweets for a quid when my dad would take me to supermarkets.

    It's £2.75 now.

Good idea for a thread Pat.

I had similar thoughts at work today - not relevant for her but going to say anyway . Where I work, the English floor has 8 classrooms, that is what the whole team know it as. Apart from me. . . I remember when the big classroom was the English staff room.

    How things change.
