Love the optimism Stenson. The Rams are staying up.
Seems like we showed some grit though.

Well done Wayne and the lads, at least you all showed a bit of grit and class unlike some at PP!

In the space of 5 days we took a point off the side who, at the time, were top and then 3 off the side who were in 3rd. That's somewhat reminiscent of last season when we also did better against the sides up top than we did against those struggling around us.

We were deservedly 2 up at HT. Cracker from Bird and Curt can thank their keeper for his well placed header going in. 2nd half they had all the pressure and we handled it well, their goal being prompted by a poor Jags pass, possibly his only error all game. Stats show we had 32% possession, shots were 14/13 and shots on target were 5/5. Good performances from most of the side individually and excellent as a team.

Roos - punched just twice which must be an all time low for him and just maybe he's git his confidence back at last. Some key saves as well, again.
Byrne - I'm not his biggest fan as you know but he had a decent game. Only caught upfield on a couple of occasions, stayed on his feet and there was none of the arm holding when he got close to an opponent. I'd still like him to get closer to his winger insted of 15 to 20 yards inside him.
Jags - Excellent, just the one error that led to their goal
Curt - A rock. Also got a goal. Excellent
Lee B - Very good. Might have scored as well.
Bird - Excellent. What a great first ever League goal on his 21st B'day. Brilliant in defence. Some cracking attacking passes. MOTM.
Shinnie - Solid. Very early, questionable, yellow but he managed to stay within the Laws after that and had a very good game
Sibley - Solid game. Some may question his yellow but getting his studs halfway up the opponent's ribcage warranted it.
Morrison - A riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. I love watching him on the ball. Even with 4 opponents around him, he always seems to have half an hour on the ball. Some quality passes but, IMO, insufficient for a player of his undoubted quality. I think we need to see more end product from him. That lack of end product is typified by his miss. Endeavour and skill got him a few yards out, wide of the left hand post with a good 7, maybe 8, yards to the nearest opponent and they were behind him. All the time in the world to control the ball and pass it into the empty net. He chose the hasty volley and missed. Is this indicative of why he has been judged a "nearly but not quite" player through his career? Ultimate control up to the moment of destiny and then losing it. Great goal in the League Cup but even that was a rebound from his own poor free kick. I hope I'm wrong about him and would love him to prove me wrong.
Lawro - Decent game. Not at his best but some good flashes at both ends.
Baldock - had sufficient chances and scorned them all. I don't see him as a striker. In the same positions, I would have backed Stretton to have got 2 goals yesterday. Baldock produced powerless shots and a gentle lob into the keeper's arms. He puts in a lot of good work but, for me, he falls short in his main job as a centre forward, namely, scoring.

Now the ref. Carded Shinnie early doors when, IMO, he should have had a word at the most as he took the ball first and the player on the follow through. Having done so, that should have set the benchmark. It didn't. They made worse fouls and got away with the foul never mind a card. Sawyers. Rightly booked and then a 2nd very bookable offence. The ref bottled it. The same ref who sent off Bielik and Sibley in his previous 2 games involving Derby. No argument from me on Sibs' yellow though. Not a nasty tackle, no ill intent, but studs just under the armpit is, to me anyway, a yellow all day, every day.

Nice to see Michael O'Neill praising the way we played and how good our crowd was.

From tomorrow, it looks like we'll be bottom, 6 points behind the Red Dogs. Unless some deal miraculously goes through in the next 24 hours........ Play like we did against Stoke with the resilience we showed against WBA and I'm sure we'll be safe despite -12 points. In with a shout as well with -24. The big question is can we repeat those levels of peforrmance.

Rooney - impressed by him. Not afraid to change shape and/or tactics from game to game. If there is an area I'd improve it's his reaction to changes by the oppo that gives them the upper hand. Needs to react. Note I didn't add "quicker".

The club/Mel - Absolutely disgusting that Rooney heard about Admin from Sky News......
