I get and agree in principle but every state owned organisation has been woefully inefficient, profligate with our money and lacking in investment.

I know i brought in gas prices here into this thread, perhaps I should have asked how much do we pay compared to the rest of the world? not just EU. My point wasn’t relating or trying to point blame on brexit in this instance just to state we are paying too much for utilities compared to everyone else. It should definitely be state owned.

I think the Govt might claim they did reduced fuel prices by being the first to introduce a price cap (Labour idea.) Blaming the govt in these extraordinary times would be like blaming them for the economy struggling after Covid.
It actually wasn't me, or any other Remainer, that brought Brexit into the energy prices debate. It was Boris Johnson himself.

So, I'm really struggling to see your point.

The Goverrnment told us explicitly we would have cheaper energy prices because of Brexit. I'm asking where our Brexit benefits are just in relation to this particular example. That's a fair question.

If Brexit won't reduce our energy bills, as we were promised, then why not question that?

By the way, your eldest and daughter-in-law sound quite intelligent. They are questioning what benefits we were promised compared to what we are getting, from this Govt and our Minisiters. Instead of making excuses trying to justify this God awful mess we voted in favour of. Sounds like you should consider their way of thinking to me.

The cretinous nature of your last paragraph has decided me not to continue this 'debate.' You'll be telling me next I'm stupid, racist, and evil!

Feel free to continue to bury your head in the sand and make excuses, all in the name of your political ideology. And then because you can't justify anything with reasoned debate, pull out the old 'you just think I'm stupid, racist etc...'

I'm just asking a fair question, which no one can answer.

Enjoy those Brexit benefits of yours.

And one final thing that does my absolute t1ts in, is the government getting a free pass on the economy because of Covid.

They advocated and put us through this damaging Brexit mess. They decided to spend £37bn on a failed track and trace system. They are responsible for giving their friends PPE contracts that cost the country billions.

Covid does not absolve them of all fiscal responsibility for damaging decisions they have taken in the last 18 months.

They are a disgrace of a Government.

I do hope people who voted leave hold people like Farage responsible for his deceit.

Sadly, many of the EU Nationals have gone back home, as the cost of living here has shot through the roof with NI Contributions, Council Tax, Food Increases, Energy Increases etc. But the non EU immigrants keep coming over the Channel with France waving them in our direction. Pity when those who voted did not distinguish between hard working EU Nationals and those illegal immigrants coming from Syria, Iraq etc.

I am sure with the fruit picking any illegal immigrant would be jumping up and down to do this work so they are not reliant on the state

While I am not a socialist and have voted Tory for many years now, I do believe that as a country, we would be better served if all the utilities were nationalised.

Just out of interest I was paying 2.84 per k/Wh in 2019 and 2.78 in 2020 so prices did indeed go down after Brexit. I don't for 1 minute believe this had much to do with us leaving I guess it was all about market prices. I just get sick to the back teeth of Brexit being blamed for anything and everythingby the ill informed.

Like everyone else I do think we are very badly served by this current crop of politicians. Boris is a very lucky man in his choice of enemies

    The Labour Party
    The LibDems
    The EU
    The SNP
