Totally agree 67. Like it or not he hasn’t done anything wrong by the club and it is up to him what he does now.

Not always been able to say this but I think the recruitment team did well to get him when they did. Praise where praise is due.

I think the only option is to give him a pay rise for “loyalty” in staying ..... but on the basis of agreeing a minimum transfer fee at a level that ensures he can leave next summer .... say £3m or £4m. Way below his worth but at least the club receives something. Otherwise he will be off next summer and we will get nothing ..... And I don’t think there is any doubt this is what he is planning to do ....

Time to make the best out of a bad situation ....

If we get promoted he might stay and sign a new contract.

Totally agree! We are a business FFS. Also this about loyalty does not wash. Johnstone would have gone had someone come in for him - they didn’t!!!! Why because he’s good but not that good!

FFS he’s not doing us any favours as he’s on decent money to do a job and yes he does it well and no denying that!

He can’t have his cake any eat it which is being in the shop window and leaving on a free so the club get nothing! Again we are a business so the fairest thing is - he signs a contract with a release clause and a pay negotiation at the end of the season! He does not want to do that as he knows if our club get nothing he gets the move he wants as clubs will be attracted by paying nothing! Some would say that’s selfish!

Johnstone might change his mind if the club said sign this contract ( release clause - pay increase if promoted ) otherwise we can’t guarantee you will be number 1. If it was my business I know what I would do and that’s not losing money!
