    O/T …. Sophocles and Kermit

No matter what your opinion of Boris is
……. how many other world leaders could deliver a speech at the UN that included references to both Sophocles and Kermit the Frog ???
    Again brilliant.
A very hard act to follow.

Its not what a politician says Nudger its what they do.

Are you equally impressed by his leadership during the pandemic, the handling of the self serving ministers personally profiting from medical testing during covid, the Hancock fiasco, the brexit strategy, the gas crisis, et al?

In hindsight things could have been done much better.
But hindsight is a wonderful thing.
A lot of accusations are being thrown at this government - but they are not always the ones that caused the problem.
I still believe in Brexit - of course there will be teething problems - especially on top of a pandemic - but in the longer term it will be beneficial.
I’m watching quite a bit of French news (in English) and the alarm bells are ringing in France regarding what the UK is doing with trade deals.

To tell you the truth - unless Boris throws a personal wobbly (and there’s chance of that) then the Tories are in line to equal or even increase their 80 seat majority at the next GE.

The Australia, United Kingdom, United States ( AUKUS ) deal is not a trade deal Nudge, it is a security pact to deter China. France is rightly narked, as the UK would be, for not being informed what was happening and AUKUS renaging on a deal to buy French submarines. Johnson has been brushed aside about the great US/ UK Trade Deal promised as a Brexit benefit. He got feq all from Biden.
The only NEW trade deal struck since Brexit has been one with Australia, worth bugger all in terms of our GDP.

There’s more than the submarine deal upsetting the French.
As for Biden - I think it’s the US that’s not getting what they want re: open trade on agriculture.
Animal welfare issues stalling that deal - and rightly so.

Raab got a right kicking from a feisty Angela Rayner at PMQ's over the lack of a trade deal with the US anytime soon .

A trade deal with the US was a fundamental promise from the Leave camp .

A shortage of workers is also a real issue for the government and something they are going to have to find a solution to sooner rather than later .

Inflation is creeping up at 4% .

An energy crisis going in to the winter is also a huge problem .

These issues have to have solutions found .

Opposition parties don't win elections more the government loses em .

Tha reight theer Animal ……… ‘Opposition parties don't win elections more the government loses em’.

Cos as things stand Labour unfortunately hasn’t a cat in hells chance.
Labour can only win now if Boris goes off script.
Hopefully Keir can get the one member one vote abolished and put back how it was - with Labour MPs having a bigger say on who leads the party.
I know it’s unpopular with the Corbynisters - but thats the only way of Labour winning a GE.
Once that happens you might see MPs like Dan Jarvis stepping out of the shadows.

Yeh because the Labour MP's are so in touch with the electorate aren't they at the side of the knocking on doors activists and members .

Talk to me how the PLP's decision on the second brexit referendum played out ?

That's one of the major reasons Labour got wiped out in the heartlands at the last GE .

Talk to any Labour MP on crime , good jobs , prosperity , etc etc and I'll guarantee they'll look down at their shoes .

Ask em about some minorities issue and you'll not be able to get rid of em .

The members and unions are the party not the MP's entirely .

Give that lot free reign and they'll feck you seven ways till Sunday including Jarvis .
