    Just watching Brighton Palace.
Like Brentford sold there best players as did Brighton with lesser known managers and not the reputation of our club yet they are quality streets above us. How is that possible and we glow about our magician manager and internationals most positions?

You can't ignore the fact that Bielsa made a middling Championship team into something special, winning games and entertaining everyone with the way they player. Did exactly the same with more or less the same squad of players in the 1st season promoted. Therein lies the answer to your question.

The squad is NOT as good as it needs to be, and the failures of the recruitment policy is at the heart of the issue (I'll drop a little note or two on that in the relevant thread). We continually FAIL to get value for money, we CONTINUALLY recruit players with a record on injury in the faint hope that we can "fix" them (when it's pretty obvious that Bielsaball is unlikely to fix what is already broken), we have a senior management team with a collective myopia when it comes to where the new players might come from )yeah, the xenophobe surfaces), ignoring the resource pool in the UK for reasons that escape me (and no, the players in lower league teams are NOT always "too expensive" (one example of many that are easy to find, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, played just 10 times for his "home" team, Blades, having spent nearly 10 years in total on Blades' books, and joined Everton for £1.62m, someone spotted a bargain, huh?).

It's a case of doing the hard graft that scouting networks used to do (and some still do, obviously), as opposed to staring at laptop screens and glopping away at statistics without understanding what lies behind them. That will never happen at Leeds (at least not at the moment), and you know why? Orta, isn't it always?

Recruiters should be looking more of who created the chances rather than who scored just saying.
As for our promotion we should have gone up the season before but fell apart and as for our promotion the teams around us fell apart so can go either way.
The question is how on earth this clubs have sold there best players and were able to rebound on the cheap where as a team such as ours has done the opposite after spending millions.
That just goes to say poor management all around the club from owner recruiter coach's manager.

To match that model we need to sell the established players at top of the market prices and buy younger better models wisely with the money.

If Kane had gone to Citeh then spuds could have paid silly money for Bamford and we could have brought in 3 or 4 quality players with that money.

If/when we stay up then it will be interesting to see what happens with the older players who can’t progress further.

The thing is we should not be relying to sell a phillips a rapf a bamf to do that we had a chance with all the money which we have wasted to do that in the first place. It is poor poor management of the team. All the money we have spend only Raph is worth anything.
We in such a bad state that teams are already talking in poaching our good players for bargain prices. Barca are coming in for raph now tooted at around 25 to 50 mil. Phillips the same I fear for the future. God if Meslier keeps playing like he is a big club will come for him PSG already wanted him this season but after his start anything Is possible.
Question is do we want to be a top up club for others or do we aspire for the top.
This next month will answer most questions so we can wait and see.

Not sure what money we have wasted Oz - seems to have been reinvested into the ground, facilities and players.

FFP means we can’t just do a Ridsdale anymore.

To be a top club and bridge the gap takes a while these days the FFP rules were more pulling up the drawbridge in some respects.

Quite happy we are in the prem and play gung ho football - will be scary at times this season but give me that over some of the rubbish we have had to watch in the last 16 years.

Money on players wasted. You brought up on selling our best players and bringing in 3 4 just as good at the same price. My point is we already spend what 140 to 150 mil and we are in this situation what gives you confidence in this management that they can weave magic?

"Not sure what money we have wasted", hmmm.........so, going back over the likes of Sacko, Sloth, Anita, Antonsson, Halme, Grot, Lassoga and a collection of others I simply can't be ar5ed to articulate, or the release fees and grotesque salary given to the clown (who I might remind you in all probability cost us a years promotion), ditto the money spent bringing that stellar contributor JKA to ER (and the FACT that we are STILL on the hook for £19m which even if gets negotiated down will represent absolutely NO value for money), and the enhanced and extended contracts given to Costa (50% of whos salary Leeds continue to pay even though he is playing for another club!) and Roberts (who even you have started to realise is a donkey of the first order). And the sorry tale continues, we pay Forshaw to occupy the physios bench, ditto with Llorente, knowing that he had a record of injury BEFORE he joined Leeds. Just where in that sorry (and incomplete) record of financial and player mis-management and incompetence would you care to point to ANYTHING that represents even a passing resemblance to value for money or "not wasted"?
