Good luck to him, he's come out as a good man these past couple of months.
I see Wayne has been nominated…..
Not a chance in hell that he will win it but fair play to be up there in our current climate!
Good luck to him, he's come out as a good man these past couple of months.
Just to provide balance (I agree he's been brilliant over this whole 5h1tshow), he would have been a fool not to. He's in the relatively "perfect calm" as opposed to the "perfect storm".
He's in a win win situation. He keeps us up, he's the Messiah. He fails to keep us up..... well who could have done so under the ridiculous set of circumstances we are in? He can't lose can he?
These circumstances are, IMO, the reason we let promising youngsters like Brown, Cresswell and others go in the summer as Wayne and the staff knew we were likely to be restricted to 23 players and they knew we needed a few older heads in.
Agree completely with that. He has, as Ramshank says, done very well...but the ‘balance’ above provides a crucial perspective.
I’ve hardly seen them ‘live’ this season because of other ‘commitments’. Aim to put that right against Luton, but I hear from those who have been that the players have all been giving 100% and that those fans who have been going have shown proper support with much less moaning.
Much of that must be down to Rooney and the example he’s shown.
I've used my RamsTV "season ticket" to see all but 1 of the League games this season. That 1 game I watched from the East Stand. No doubting the commitment and pride shown by all wearing the shirt and the fans have been excellent. I hope to be over again before the turn of the year.
In terms of balance, I thought he was shocking last season, with a capable squad, the same tools as Cocu, and is "lucky" to still be in the job.
But this season, with a poorer squad (exception being Jags added to defence - well done Wayne and team), he's got something good going on, and deserves credit, notwithstanding his personal credit to be professional whilst Mel was playing snakes and ladders with the club.
The end to the season was poor, 1 win in 15. He got lucky because if we'd sacked him we would have struggled to get anybody, never mind anybody half decent, in to replace him.
Prior to that poor run he had a run that was about as good as the end of the season was bad. Thankfully we've started this season well. He's done well with the signings. Let a fair few promising kids go so we had room to get the 5 senior bodies in within the 23 man allowance the EFL have given us. Got the best out of everybody. Handles the press well. Gets all of his sound bytes right. As things stand, I'm glad we didn't get rid in the summer.
Seconded
