Players have to try a trick or take the defender on in some way. Defenders are desperate and can make mistakes with their timing or use too much force, it's always worth a go. More penalties mean more goals and that's what we need - it's worse for the ref to not give a legit pen than to give a dodgy one - benefit of doubt for the attacking team.
Say to the complaining team 'go and play in their penalty area, you might get one yourselves'
