January comes..... we loose a keeper at least 1 of our defence. And go sign a no-one from the Finnish league 3.
Play out rest of season with 3 sides. And enjoy being a larger fish in league 1 till that runs dry
Well - if Morris doesn't get fit - or Obbi never gets fit ……. then there becomes an increasing likelihood of relegation.
IMO that’s how important that position is in this Barnsley team.

The owners won’t be happy at a reduced income losing £££millions if we get relegated.

If that hole in the squad is still not mended by January then they have an opportunity to patch it up in January.
Clearly they knew there was a potential problem in the summer - but didn’t manage to get the lad that went to Coventry over the line.
So hopefully the club now realises that missing out on that one player has knocked the wheels off the wagon.

In saying that - the owners allowed the team to drift a couple of seasons ago - only to be rescued in the last minute of the season at Brentford.
So we will have to wait and see.
How the owners deal with the striker crisis will be a good indicator of the intentions of the owners this season.

I’m convinced that once we have that strong physical striker the fortunes of the team will transform.
We are too light weight up front.
And the Radio Sheffield interviewer and Marcus himself seemed to be alluding to this.

    Here's one for you.....
As you said a hole upfront a hole in midfield. Once the keeper and a defender goes .... weve a masive hole straight down the middle goal to goal. Only way we're avoiding relegation is if loads more clubs go in admin. Even then we could still go down..... things are now that bad.

Me and you can see the problem.
    But many can’t.
They are putting 100% of the blame on Schopp.
He’s not without blame - but IMO most of the blame of our current position should be laid at the door of recruitment.

Six players signed - all with pedigree - and all of them when you watch YouTube look brilliant.
But ……. NONE of them fully fit.
And the most important of those signings Obbi doesn’t even look like he will start this season.
    Disastrous recruitment.

As has been asked and discussed on the other threads Nudger, they won't be happy at the loss in revenue of course. But surely they will just do what they normally do, and thats sell off our best players for less than their market value. And at least that means they will come out of it 'evens' with a few decent sales.
As for our team, well goodness knows whats going to happen to it in the coming year, but Im not looking forward to it as it looks like certain relegation at the moment.
And the fact that its come straight after a Play off season, well that makes it an absolute disgrace!.

I think we have replacements all over the field.
Although one player that would be difficult to replace is Helik.
IMO we haven’t a centre back replacement with the same physical strength.
    Especially with Mads being out.

Losing both Helik and Mads in defence to my mind is very much like losing Morris and Obbi in attack.

Hope you include the owners in this sentence. Especially Conway as he was the one working from the list the recruitment team provided and failed with a lot of the targets. Also take into account that quite a few recruitment staff left because they didn’t like to work at the club anymore, senior recruitment analyst James Beet who left for Preston was one and was behind a lot of good players identified. Conway also got rid of a lot of part time scouts.

Conway also found it funny ridiculing the player who fled at the last minute before signing by just getting in his car and shooting off up Grove Street. Maybe instead of laughing and boasting about this on interview after interview he should look at himself and ask why.

Going to be bloody difficult to attract any decent players here in January now as well, only desperate clubs paying daft money are the ones doing business in January.

I think you have to include Paul Conway in that.
He may not be the one identifying the targets - but it seems he was the one who was pursuing the player.

With the sound of it - the player that Conway was joking about was the player that went to Coventry - and is exactly the player that’s needed in the team now.
In other words - the disastrous start of the season caused by missing out on that player.
Something I’m sure none of us are joking about.
