    Swansea v Cardiff

The local derby is upon us once more. The match has been moved to a Sunday midday kick off and will be a bubble match. Last season, in March, we lost by the odd goal at the Liberty scored by defender Aden Flint, with the game played in an empty stadium because of Covid rules. The size difference between the teams was paramount with Flint and Morrison dominating set pieces and Vaulks long throw-ins causing problems for the Swans defensive three of Naughton, Bennett and Guehi, with Roberts and Bidwell the wing backs.
The Swans were flying at the time, 3rd in the table with Cardiff 8th.
This time it’s very different, with both teams struggling at the bottom of the table, Swans with a new head-coach and 2 wins from 11 matches, Cardiff with 3 wins from 11 matches and 5 straight defeats coming into this match.
Also fans are back again with a full house expected, Swans allocation is sold out, Cardiff allocation two hundred seats left with two days to go. The match is live on Sky Sports and on SwansTV in dark market countries only.
The Swans have been boosted by three key players returning to full training - Ryan Bennett, Olivier Ntcham and Michael Obafemi.

The Swans were flying this afternoon when they clipped the Bluebirds wings.
A resounding win for Swansea by three goals to nil as Cardiff slumped to their sixth successive defeat, putting their manager’s job in jeopardy.
Bragging rights were at stake in this latest battle between fierce local rivals and tensions were in high.
A noisy and near full house reminded me of our Premier League days.
It took 29 minutes for our first goal a super volley by Paterson, but before that both sides had chances. An early Swans penalty appeal was turned down by Linington as heavy tackles were ignored by this weak ref. For Cardiff, Giles and Moore spurned chances but the half ended with Swans ahead.
Second half it was mostly one sided with Piroe and Bidwell adding a goal apiece and Cardiff finished well beaten.

What a display by the Swans as we murdered the match with our passing game. Not to everybody’s taste but with our 74% possession Cardiff had restricted chances to score. Finally the passing game came with goals after several scoreless matches.
Coming up on Wednesday night will be a bigger test when WBA are in town, this match will give us a lot clearer picture of our progress.
