    Update on our black hole

Pleased to see the Under 23s win this afternoon scoring 4 in a 7 goal thriller with Norwich.
Since the end of August when they lost, quite needlessly, at Newcastle and had 0 points from their first 3 matches, they have played 5 league games, won 3 and drawn 2 scoring 11 goals with 6 against. In addition they have played 2 cup matches and won them both scoring 6 and conceding 2.
This is a really good turn around and they have been helped greatly by goals scored by 17 year old Michael Mellon and 19 year old Ne-Jai Tucker who have both scored 4 each in the last 7 games. Both, 18 year old Sam Unwin and 19 year old Joe McGlynn have also played their part with 5 goals between them.

That is prolific compared to our 1st team strikers.

We don't have any at Clitheroe at the moment, just John Connolly's grandson, but if you're still on for next week BT you might see one, I believe Jamie Frost has just signed for Widnes.

Under 18s today travelled to play Arsenal in their group in the PL Cup. They went behind in the first half to a penalty and were 0-1 down at half time. Equalised 4 minutes into the second hald before going behind again in the 68th minute. The lads kept at it and substitute, Tremaine Eastmond, linked up with fellow substitute Ryan Tioffo who crossed the ball from the left hand side for Eastmond to score an equaliser in the 87th minute.
Two games played and 4 points gained and a fairly young side doing well. Last five games 3 wins 1 draw and 1 defeat scored 12 and 5 against

Could any one or some of these youngsters do any worse than our first time, PL experienced, misfiring lot. Wood, six yards out, “blazes” over the bar. Barnes straight at the goalkeeper.

Have you seen much of Harry Kane recently Swiss, he's been making Chris Wood look like Jimmy Greaves.

I somehow doubt the comparison with the late, great Greavsie. However, I accept that all strikers go through lean periods. However, the strikers need to start coming up with goods. I think that with Cornet and Vydra (a bit of pace) we might be a threat. Wood needs good crosses, which are not coming in at the moment. Barnes and JayRod are passed it and are not PL standard now.
