    OLdham pre match

Following the Newport game many of us will have high hopes for Saturday and I will be especially happy to give warm welcome to Keith Curle. Whatever the result, I don't see GS being the answer to the question. This, despite the team selected that was a bit more adventurous. For the life of me I cannot see what Alessandra brings to the team. I think Mellish must step down as well. Personally, I would build the team round Clough - Guy needs to concentrate on his game and not worry about captaining. I would see Howard as the captain: vocal, experienced and a total change from the established order.

I have a deep foreboding. Against his former clubs Keith Curle severely kicks arse.

Assuming all are fit, I would go with:

    Howard

    Mellor Feeney Whelan Armer

    Riley Guy Charters Gibson

    Clough Young

    Thoughts:-

Still early days to judge Howard - Jensen may be better.

We desperately need a new experienced central defender to play alongside (and guide) Feeney.

Riley is good and getting better. However he is not strong enough defensively to play in the back 4.

Charters is a better option than Mellish.

Young is the most logical option as centre forward. Even if he doesn't score he at least gives the opposition defence a work out.

Will we win today? Well, there is more chance of there being a shelley's eagle owl perched on the Warwick Road End crossbar.
