I love to make my own. My favourite is a lamb rogan josh I do with a whole shoulder slow cooked for about 5 hours.

I went for my first curry at 11 years old to a restaurant called Omar Kayaam in Edinburgh. It’s still there.

Akbar’s is close to me and I do enjoy their chicken liver tikka starter. The seafood Balti there isn’t as good as it used to be.

As a cheap treat, B&M bargains sell a Chinese curry powder called mayflower. Mix with water, add onions, peas and chicken and you have a replica Chinese take away curry.

    Cheap, easy, fast and tasty.

I went to a random game at Headingley in the cricket world cup 99 as a lad, and there were a group of Asian background Leeds locals in front of us and they shared all sorts of the massive amount of homemade food they’d brought, was a great initiation to the delights of curry.

I’m in London now and my favourite place has just closed down cus of a greedy landlord so trying lots of places to find a new regular. Satisfying to make your own too

A quick easy curry . add what you want to it.
You may have to scroll down a bit. for recipe
You can make it quicker than ordering one, and you know it's proper chicken.

I remember having decent curries back in the day at the place at the bottom of Corporation Street, it was BYO booze but the snap in there was lovely. Always preferred a Bhuna, got a kick to it but can still taste it without needing an asbestos mouth. I think the name changed a few times, but sadly is now a derelict fire damaged mess

If you're into cook it yourself I can recommend this book

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hairy-Biker...c=1&th=1&psc=1

All possible without resorting to exotic ingredients or specialist cooking skills and equipment

We got our copy from a charity shop, it's a few years old now so buy one if you see one

Probably 9 of the 10 best curries I've ever had were during 2 months backpacking around India. Indian food for 3 meals a day was an absolute joy, I've never gotten so excited for meal times. Rajhastan in particular. But the fish curries in Goa also get a special mention.

Top tip. Buy frozen spinach and throw a couple of frozen spinach balls into homemade curries.

If you like spinach of course.

Tins of chick peas are handy for bulking out as well.
