I've always wondered about the softness of dutch law.

I remember a Dutch lorry driver, (jailed here for 12 years for drug smuggling), laughing because the home office had granted him the chance to go to a dutch jail and complete his sentence.
He had served 3.5 years here. Dutch courts would have given him a lot less and low and behold, he served 6 months in Holland and was released. He bragged that despite having his lorries seized etc, he had 7 million euros buried in a field in Holland.
Am I surprised at what Maddy is saying? Well no, not in the least.

It kicked off again yesterday. A 2nd tier match between MVV and Roda JC, stadiums 20 miles apart so it's a local Derby, never made it to half time. The two sets of "fans" were aiming large numbers of firework rockets at each other and throwing flares onto the pitch. How they got them into the stadium can only show there was little to no security/searching. In the ensuing melees, inside and later outside the ground, several police and stewards were injured.

The ref abandoned the game.
