    O/T Car tax.

Has anybody successfully done this recently? I tried to tax both my and my wife's car online today. I had both our V11's in front of me. I typed in my reference number only to find that it wouldn't accept it. I checked and did it again with the same result. Exactly the same with my wife's. I then tried to do it over the phone only to be informed that they were receiving a high number of calls, told goodbye and the line went dead. Decided to phone DVLA services only to find out that it cost £3-60 a minute. Disgusting! The whole system is shambolic.

I had a big enough shock when the wife told me her car tax on her diesel was nearly £500 for a year.

She's going electric shortly although she doesn't know that yet!

Just to be pedantic, although factual, there is no such thing as ‘car tax’, neither is there any such thing as ‘road tax’. It is Vehicle Excise Duty.
