    Gerrard appionted at the Vile

Stephen Gerrard appointed. He was considered for the Toon but said it wasn't for him. I wonder what he sees in the Vile.

Howe v Gerrard will be interesting in the return match in February. Battle of the two bright up-and-coming managers.

Could be a good battle of tactics with both having newcomers to the squads available.

I don't recall that. Did Staveley make an approach ?

In her interview she said their was a "robust recruitment process" or words to that affect so perhaps they enquired about Gerrard?

I'm more impressed with what Howe achieved with Bournemouth than Gerrard with Rangers so feel we've got the right man

I have to agree with you there. Gerrard walked in right at the top but Howe had to prove himself under extremely difficult circumstances with it all to do and worse than the bottom of the leagues starting with a 19 point deduction.

You could say that he performed miracles down there.

Aye, I was just looking for a quote from Gerrard himself (can't seem to find one) anyhoo, Howe is probably the right fit for where we are right now.

Think it was all paper talk. Gives people the chance to say he turned us down, though. We may well have asked and he said no or it may be that we considered him and thought nah.

Not arsed, though-extremely happy with Eddie.

Probably because he doesn't know how to manage a football team
