Qatar is NOT a 'Shia Muslims' (Not Shiite) country. It is Sunni country. However Qatar has always been an inclusive nation with it's Shia neighbours Iran who they share their enormous Gas fields and wealth with.

I've lived in Qatar for 6 yrs man and you really don't have a clue what you are talking about.

My recommendation is that you stick to football matters and not comment on thing you quite clearly have zero knowledge and have done zero research into.

Can we get a moderators opinion on some of this culturally ignorant statements please.

Well I may have got it wrong about Quatar being Shia but not about them being an ally of Iran.I was in Iran when the Shah was still in control and again after Ayatollah Khomeini took over,still there when the Americans failed to take back their Embassy staff.I watched as the vote took place to give Khomeini absolute power of Iran and the Revolutionary Guards standing by the NO booth to dissuade dissenters.So I am not totally ignorant about the area.

I have since looked it up and it states that Quatar is 90 per cent Shi'ha and 10 per cent Sunni Muslim if that information is correct then your diatribe against me is nonsense.

Are you sure, Sherwood? I did a bit of digging, too, and all the info I can find states the opposite. Not looking to reignite the debate...just in the interests of balance, 'n'all.

The only two sources that I have found so far say 90 per cent Shi'a and 10 per cent Sunni,I will stand corrected if I can find different figures from another source.I had just googled Quatar religion and politics and got the same results from two sources on the same page for Muslims although there are other minority religions in the country.

Fair enough. The first sources i looked at were Wikepedia and Britannica and they both had it the other way round.
