    Ian Hendon

We’ll have tried and failed with John Sheridan as Manager last year Waterford FC have now appointed former Notts player Ian Hendon as their new manager.

I'm sorry, Malc, but I just don't get the point you're making in this post. We'll?

One of the strangest transfers at Notts was Hendon being sold to Northampton Town for 25k when he was a regular up to that point, and his replacement at right back(?) was Richard Holmes who was nowhere near as good, as I recall. Allardyce was manager at the time. Must have been over something behind the scenes, Hendon's last game was an away win at Stoke as we were pulling clear of trouble.

Richard Holmes was offered a contract under big Sam but Jocky Scott didn't fancy him, he was a young lad with potential but fel! out of love with the game when released, and not long after packed it in.

Hendon started that Stoke away game, which I was at, I remember some of the Stoke fans coming on to the pitch at the end to protest in front of their main stand singing "sack the board". He was made captain after Strodder had been stripped of the title over a red card incident, so maybe there was some feeling over that. Two months before the Stoke game Hendon and Murray had a punch up during the Reading home game, so maybe he did have trouble getting along with some of the other players, but I rated him and was sad to see him go.

I think he did play at Stoke I was there too Beadle and Rapley scored i think.

It might have been Man City game he missed but yes he was a good RB for us.

I was at the Britannia Stadium that day. Good win and was relieved that the very irate locals were concentrating all their anger at their board of directors and not at the away fans.

I remember I wasn't massively looking forward to the walk back to the car after the FT whistle.

I remember going to the old ground up there a few times. It was rough as guts. The only time I felt safe I think was a Sunday FA Cup game and we played Newcastle Under Lyme from distant memory.
