Parsons? From Norwich? Could be the sale of the century. One for the youngsters.

Have we actually got ourselves a right wing back?

We have completed the loan signing of Wycombe Wanderers wide player Connor Parsons on a deal until 29 January.

The former Norwich City youngster arrived at Adams Park following a successful trial in the summer, joining up with their B team and going on to feature in three Papa John’s Trophy matches, scoring once.

Before joining the League One outfit Parsons had worked hard to bounce back from his Carrow Road departure, playing in non-league and spending time with Icelandic side Dalvik.

And Ian Burchnall believes the 21-year-old will be a lively addition to our squad.

“With Aaron Nemane being out for a little while, we’ve moved quickly to try and replace that attacking threat in the wide area,” said the head coach.

“We’ve been really unfortunate with illness and injury in recent weeks so to get an extra body in is massive.

“I’ve known Wycombe’s B team coach, Sam Grace, for a long while and we’ve always spoken about players, so Connor has been on our radar. He fits the mould of what we’re looking for right now.

“He’s played a lot of minutes at wing back for Wycombe, mostly down the left but, as he’s right footed, he can go either side.

“Wycombe have got a really good system with their B team and they’re bringing through some talented youngsters. The fact they took Connor on shows there’s a lot of potential there, so we’re really happy to get him on board.”

Parsons will wear squad number 22. An interview with him will follow later today.

Let's see OG Has he been brought in for cover or to go into the team?

It's still easier said than done. Are we playing 3-5-2? That's the idea, so why have we gone 20 competitive games and there have been zero goals from the wide players, not all that many assists, and questionable play in general considering we're targeting automatic or top 3.

Taylor gets a pass cos it's coming, we can see it, and it's kind of as it should be on that side. He's a Wing Back. Still, they're hard to find. Coaches picking full-backs as wing-backs might stretch out their jobs for a bit by playing it safe, but their teams won't play well enough to bag top spot in a league you have to attack.
Anyway, good luck to Connor Parsons, whatever his role is.

I think the long term plan is still for Nemane to take that role, but a combination of him being injured a lot and struggling with the defensive side has meant it hasn’t happened yet. Hopefully the new guy can bridge the gap while he continues to work on it.

Agree on Kelly-Evans, he’s a fine right back at this level but wing back is a specialist position that really is more about attacking than defending, and while he can deliver an okay cross under no pressure he just doesn’t have that trick or turn of pace to go past a man like Taylor (and Miller previously) can on the left.
