    Slightly more than half usually.

Scotland doesn't count, it doesn't want to be a real place.

The pressure now will be on the Ukrainians to give up the east, which was mostly pro Russian anyway and get the war over with.

They will then have to thole it while shouting "betrayal" at the west or settle down to being terrorists in their own country.
That could go on long enough.
I'd like to agree with you that the war will be over soon but just don't see it myself.

The Americans have been pretty open that they want to see the Russians weakened from all of this so they will keep pumping in weapons that the Ukrainians will be happy to use. The Americans strategy here is to spin this war out as long as possible to weaken the Russians in 3 ways

    1. Sanctions will weaken their economy giving the Russians less money in the future to spend on their military. This will particularly hurt them the longer the war goes on as you will see a fairly dramatic reduction in oil and gas they sell to the West especially Germany
    2. Their military is weakened as they lose lots of equipment in the war, tanks, planes etc. Apparently most of their equipment uses Western parts (microchips etc) so it won't be easy for them to quickly manufactrure replacements
    3. Thousands more Russian soldiers will lose their lives (not ignoring the thousands of Ukrainians that will also be killed)

The Ukrainians will quite rightly be happy to keep fighting until they recapture as much of their own territory as possible including as you say a WWII type resistance force in the East. Putin is not going to stop doing what he is doing as that won't play to his hardman image. This has got a long way to run yet

I tend to agree with that Red Zone
The only thing that I feel may change this is if he feels cornered with nowhere to go.

    BOOM!!

Maybe the Yankees will try invading Ukraine after they throw out the Ruskies.

Sounds stupid but that’s what they did with Afganistan.

Except of course, they’ll use banks not tanks.

Don’t for a minute think that anyone is giving the Ukrainians weapons.
The invoice will be in the post

Not that it impacts on us but I see that all Russian teams have been kicked out of next season European competitions by UEFA

Struggling to see what the end plan for this conflict will be. We've got Belarus building up troops on their border with Ukraine, Boris has just made a deal with Sweden and Finland in case of an attack and it doesn't look like Putin has any idea what to do next.

Ukraine has also stopped Russian gas running through their country to Europe and things are still tense in Poland with their ambassador being summoned to the Russian foreign ministry.

    Boris the Brave.

    He's a f'uckin w@nker.

It's all posture, the foreign office will be appalled.

Aye, the foreign office, not the foreign secretory, who's as big an a'rse* as the home secretory.

    * As big an a'rse, not has as big an a'rse.

    Don't mention the war!

Or the special military operation, as you may find yourself falling out a hospital window.
