Thread: Good point

    Good point

Happy with a point from an interesting game today. We were very good, and should have been well in front, when they scored totally against the run of play. From then on we were clearly second best but it was a great finish from Watt and a share of the spoils was (just about) deserved overall.

Just watched the highlights. Chances on both sides, and final score could have been 3-3, but we seemed very lucky to get a point in the end. But we'll take it, thanks to Tony Watt. Not looking forward to next week at Celtic, but hopefully after that we can carry on with the run.

Certainly if the injury situation doesn't improve you fear for us, it's one thing muddling a back four or midfield together v the rest to doing it in Glasgow.

That being said, if we have something close to our first XI available you can see us having a real go against anyone. That's not the same as being confident against the OF given our record but the right elements are there.

We had to cobble together a makeshift defence after Ricky went off, and they did well, but I can see difficulties if we're without three centre halfs - halves? - next week.
Tony Watt is astonishing - he heads them in, sidefoots them in, curls them in and smashes them in. He finds space, he can protect the ball and he plays for the team. He's stronger and faster than he looks.
I expect that Steve Clarke will have noticed all that.

The only downside to Watt is this form - if it lasts - means we have no chance of keeping him. Until the last couple of displays I thought we still had a wee chance.

He has went to other clubs for more money and not been happy with his football life or that his family had. He admits himself that he and his family are very happy at the moment and he has a manager who believes in him and wants to play for. You never know he might just stay and sign a new contract

You could certainly have seen him turning a bit of an increase to go somewhere else in Scotland or somewhere in League One down south but Devante Cole got a three-contract in the Championship...even allowing for our new found financial approach, the amount Watt would have to turn down to stay is likely huge. And he'll know in the back of his head he can probably return to FP considerably richer in a few years time.
