    Apparently, they mad submarines in Huddersfield during the war! So I was told yesterday. Weird,….. miles from the sea…. I’m sceptical, but I’m going to look it up….

    Barrow /Barra Pit was named after the Town of Barrow , The Ironworks in Barrow bought huge amounts of coal from there , apparently some of the coal reached very high heat in the furnaces , similar to anthracite , therefore making it easier for melting down the metals ,
    an Old Collier told me this other day , ( no norrim)
