A point per game from now on would result in a final total of 42 points, which in 6 of the last 10 seasons would have resulted in relegation.

We may calculate that on this season's average points per game ratio the team currently in 23rd place will finish on 34 or 35 points.
(15 / 20) * 46 = 34.5

But in the final 8 or so matches of the season there will be teams that realistically have nothing to play for playing against the bottom 4. In those matches the bottom 4 do manage to get points that the average punter would not have predicted.

At the moment I have so little faith in this squad (and that it will be improved) that even a point per game seems incredibly optimistic.

It's not only the clubs in the middle of the league that the bottom clubs get points against,I've noticed that as the season gets dangerously close to finishing there has been some proper upsets against the top clubs as well,I've just had a look at the league and there's already a gap between the bottom five and the 6th from bottom,the National League is very hard to get out of,you won't come straight back up if you don't avoid the drop,there's money being spent in that league and it's no longer full of the part timers and pub clubs of old,Notts won't go up this season so don't join us
